Youtube Site Reaches 100,000 views

In a couple of days I will reach a milestone of a sort.  I have a Youtube channel and under the user name 1willwander .  I started the site a couple of years ago as a way to supplement my bog.  It has grown into a site of its own.  I am just shy of 100,000 video views.

My first video was uploaded on March 7, 2011.  I did not do much with the channel for the first year.  Just the occasional video here and there.  I wasn't concerned about promoting the channel or making money.  In September 2011, I started using the site to document the progress of construction on a friends restaurant.  Finally around the end of 2011, I started in earnest putting videos on the site.

During that first year of 2011 I had a total of 5,227 video views.  For the calender year of 2012 the video views were 51,490.  For the first six months of 2013 the total views have been 42,592.   All this adds up to just shy of 100,000 views.  On average I now have a little over 7000 views a month.

Now to the important part of the equation, money.  I enable Adsense  in early 2011 on my blog.  I made $1.82 in that year.  The next year of 2012, I added the Youtube site and made a grand total of $110.11.  In the first six months of 2013 I have made $105.65.  To sum it up, 100,000 video views and 25,000 blog views has netted me $207.00.  It's going to take me a long time to get rich.

It is clearly not much money for the effort.  I have a total of 121 videos and over 200 blog post.  Even still, it amazes me that my videos have been viewed 100,000 times.   At the rate of return I will need one million  views to make $2000.00.  At 7000 views per month I will need 12 years to get there.  I better put up more videos.

Thanks for your interest.
