I played in my First event at the World Series of Poker. It was a daily deep stack tournament. There are three of these tournament each day. The one that starts at 2:00 p.m. is the largest and some times has more than 1500 entrants. The buy in is $235 and you get 15000 in chips. There was no bracelet or ring but the prize pool can get very high. First place in the one I played in was almost $50,000. For the most part the field was not that tough. I tend to play tight in the early stages of a tournament and I sat back and watched player after player give away their chips playing the tournament like a cash game.
The blind structure is good for the first 4 or 5 levels. After you get a little deeper in the tournament the blinds start to jump up a little. As a example it goes from 1000/2000 to 1500/3000. I guess that have to get the tournament over sometime. The event I played in had 1286 entrants and paid 144. I was doing well until I got unlucky in a hand and went out 190th. That was 46 off the money. There is always next time.
