Las Vegas Gives New Meaning to Taking the Plunge

Taking the plunge in Las Vegas used to mean getting hitched at one of the many wedding chapels. The Stratosphere has changed that definition. For a mere $99 you can strap on a custom suit and take the plunge off a platform 855 feet above the ground. The hitch in this story is you tether to guide wires that keep you from drifting off course and serves to slow you to a soft landing at the bottom of the free fall. And yes it is a Guinness moment, not the beer, but the world record kind. It is the highest such base jump in the world. They call it the Skyjump and you need to be 14 years old to take this leap.
